We want you to be aware that there are several confirmed cases of canine influenza H3N2 in Palm Beach County. H3N2 is a highly contagious virus that causes a canine respiratory infection. Most dogs will recover but some do require hospitalization and possible intensive care. Many dogs get a high fever and about 20% develop pneumonia.

There is no evidence that H3N2 infects people.

The most important step you can take is to vaccinate your dog against canine influenza virus. We recommend that you update your dog’s canine influenza vaccine if they have any potential exposure or interactions with other dogs. This includes boarding, grooming, dog parks, etc.

Should you have any questions regarding your pet’s risks or if you wish to schedule an appointment please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or call us 561-434-2097

We do anticipate our phone lines to be tied up even more than normal, so please email first whenever possible.
